TELL: VALENTINES DAY COOKIES

I have been so excited to make some valentines Day cookies this year.  I got an AMAZING new cookie recipe from my friend Jana, that I am so excited to share and I had a fun idea to use my new Sprout HP to help frost as well.
I have been using the same cookie recipe for since forever.  It was just one I found in Joy of Cooking.  I have tried a ton of other recipes that I found online but I didn’t love any of them.  Some were too fluffy and lost shape while others were too crumbly and tricky to frost.  My Joy of Cooking one was good but they were not very soft and chewy.  THEN my amazing friend shared this recipe and it was a game changer, seriously!  The taste and softness and its ability to keep its shape all makes this the perfect sugar cookie recipe.  She said I could share it with you!
Sugar Cookie Recipe
2 cup Butter softened
1 1/2 cup Sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 egg yolks
4 1/2 Cups flour
Cream Butter and Sugar.  Add vanilla and egg yolks (be sure not to over mix).  Add flour.  Separate the dough into two balls.  Put between two sheets of parchment paper and roll out to about 1/4 inch thick.  Then put in fridge till it becomes hard (about 30 min), then remove and cut out shapes.  When the dough has become soft again repeat until all the dough is gone.
Bake the cookies at 350 for about 10-12 min.  Each oven is different, so watch them.  They are best when taken out before the edges start to brown.
When cooled frost using royal icing
This is the royal icing recipe I use
Royal Icing
(This recipe is from the Wilton Meringue powder box)
4 Cups confectioners sugar
6 tablespoons warm water
I usually half this recipe, but it all depends on how much icing you are planning on making.  Also you might need to add more water to get the consistency you want.  The trick is, you run a knife through the icing and count 10 seconds, if the frosting has flattened out by then it is perfect for frosting.  If it is too thin then it might run off the cookies and if it is too thick and keeps its shape for longer then it wont smooth out.
I was really excited to use my Sprout HP for frosting some of my cookies.  I have seen people use projectors to frost cookies before and thought I would give it a try.
I found some fun fabric at the store, and took a picture of it using the Sprout.
The best part is it takes two seconds to shrink or enlarge the picture/ character onto the cookie.
Once I got the perfect size, it was time to frost!  It was so fun and easy to use the camera and projector feature, I just loved it!  And will be using it to frost many future cookies :)
