Dinner around here is not really my favorite. I am NOT a huge fan of cooking, ha ha I love crafting and baking but cooking just isn’t really my thing. Also, trying to plan dinners that both us and the kids like, can get tricky too. Generally my kids are great eaters BUT if they had their way they would eat candy for dinner every night. So to get my boys excited for dinners I try to get their input every now and again and make things they will be excited about. Because lets be honest…trying to get your kids to eat healthy can be like pulling teeth sometimes.
I loved when got milk? challenged us to come up with a night cereal recipe because it’s probably the greatest idea ever, we all win! My kids love any kind of breakfast and eating a bowl of their favorite oatmeal for dinner would get some cheers, and that is a simple dinner I can get behind.
To make things fun for the kids I am sharing three cute printables your kids can color, spill on or just enjoy. Because if we are gonna let our kids take over dinner its gotta be a little messy AND fun, am I right?
My kids are pretty messy eaters so placemats are a MUST! Download these cute coloring got milk? printable placemats to make night cereal extra kid friendly.
Got Milk #2 Got Milk #1 Got Milk #3Now onto the delicious antioxidant oatmeal!
-1 cup of steal cut oats
-strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
-Sliced Almonds, Walnuts, pistachios, pumpkin seeds
-1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
-1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
-sprinkle the top with chia seeds
-Cook steal cut oats (these are my favorite and the kids too)
-Top with the assortment of nuts. It was important for me to have some protein in our night cereal so it was a little more filling and healthy, because its dinner. I love this assortment because of the salty pistachios and the simplicity and the crunchiness of the almonds and pumpkin seeds.
-Cut up some berries and bananas and spread on top of the nuts.
-Sprinkle the cinnamon, nutmeg and chia seeds all over the top.
-Finish off your night cereal with a nice cold glass of milk poured on top. This will help spread out the spices.
Mix and eat.

I only eat oatmeal if it chock-full of other goodies (essentially making the dish as un-oatmeal-ish as possible) so I think I can get on board with this one ;)

This is a great idea! Cooking isn’t my favourite, especially at the end of the day. This is a way easier, quicker option. We normally have oats for breakfast but I would rather save them for dinner and have eggs for breaky. It’s so easy to get stuck in a habit and not think about how you can do things differently.
