DIY CHRISTMAS STOCKING

It’s that time of year…my very very favorite crafting season.  I can’t help it but the holidays get me more excited about creating than any other time of the year.  I think it’s the love of handmade that just gives me all the feels. Not just creating myself but finding others that love to create too.  Gifting and creating handmade goods will forever and always be my very favorite thing and that is one reason I love Etsy so much.  It’s a community of creators, people that make one-of-a-kind things or sell tools and supplies that you can’t find anywhere else.  Basically it’s my go to for gifts and craft supplies. Because if there is one thing that that I can count on with Etsy is to find all things unique, and giving and creating something unique is what this blog is all about!  I have teamed up with Etsy and Shop Style to share these DIY Christmas Stockings that are so much fun to make and are dang cute!  I found all the supplies to make these cute stockings on Etsy. Find the full tutorial below, and some links to a few of my favorites shops for stocking stuffers!

Now lets get crafting because these DIY Christmas Stockings are kind of a MUST!

SUPPLIES
FOR DIY CHRISTMAS STOCKING

Yards of Felt
(depending on how many stockings you are making but two yards was plenty)
Extra Small Felt Balls (this shop is the king of all felt and I love it tons!)
Embroidery Floss
Super Chunky Yarn (tip: this is a LOT of yarn so you can definitely knit a pillow afterward ha)
Small Cotton Piping (I got the 1/4 inch)
-Large Sewing Needle
-Pom Pom Maker
-Hot glue gun

-Cut out your Christmas stockings using a pattern( I just used an old stocking that I liked the shape of).  Make sure to lay out your felt so when you cut out the shape you are cutting out both pieces of the stocking at once.
-Iron out any creases or kinks so your socking pieces lay flat.
-Fold your felt stocking over at the top about 5 inches.  You will need to sew this down with the blanket stitch.
-Next take your embroidery floss (a contrasting color) and a large needle and sew the blanket stitch around the edges.  This gives it such a cute detail.
-Take your small cotton piping and pull back some of the piping to reveal the cotton underneath.  Wrap some embroidery floss around the cotton piping to give it some color and look of a tassel.
-Now I love creating a big pom pom and this yarn is so much fun and gives the look of a puffy pom.  Use a pom pom maker and create these giant puffy poms using the super chunky yarn.  You will have to trim it down a lot but the result is a lot of fun.
-Take some more embroidery thread and sew the pom poms into place.  They only need a few stitches.
-Lift up the folded over top of the stocking and glue the tassels into place.
-Lastly (my favorite part) gluing on the felted balls.  This part is so fast but gives the stockings such a fun look.
-Lastly stuff them with all kinds of wonderful goodies and stocking stuffers!

Etsy is so great for fun unique stocking stuffers and I have rounded up a few!  Enjoy and give something unique this year!
