I adore a good geo-inspired craft, so I am loving the modern look of this cake topper. I want to throw a modern geo party sooooooo bad, anyone have a birthday coming up?? I already have the cake topper so….
This DIY is easy peasy you guys. And like I mentioned on instagram, its got the whole unfinished wood and paint look that I am obsessing over lately.
–Balsa Wood ( You can buy individual sheets at Hobby Lobby or Michaels)
–Acrylic Paint
–Patterning Tape
–Wood Skewer
Cut out shape. I just started cutting, I think it looks fun that the shape is a little off and not super symmetrical.
Tape off the inside shape. Then start to tape off triangle shapes inside. Then paint, alternating colors.
Peal off tape. Cut skewer to size and glue onto back of shape.
Loving the bright colors and bold angles, and I agree – there’s no such thing as too much cake!
I love this! So simple with bright colors & clean lines… right up my alley! I’m in for this geo birthday party…
so cute!! i need to try working with balsa wood, and this looks perfect for that!
I love this! I think I want to try this but for coasters… I wonder if I should apply something to the top so that water doesn’t ruin it… great tutorial, and super cute :D
I love this cake topper! It’ so simple, but makes a great impact!
