Summer is almost over for us, and that means that school and ALL the other activities that come along with school are starting as well. When it comes to all the activities – like sports and piano and after-school clubs, I need all the help I can get. I teamed up with the Martha Stewart team and Plaid Crafts to share a fun and helpful back to school DIY that your kids will love, and can even do WITH you.  This fun, personalized DIY will help your kiddos stay organized this school year.  These cute back-to-school gym/sports bag and water bottle are so simple to make. -First pick out the stencils that would best fit your kid’s favorite hobbies or interests.  Then cut out each stencil you are going to use.  This helps with easier application.
-For the canvas bag I didn’t tape down the stencil because it was a lot harder to do so.  But be sure to hold down the stencil with your hands.  Some canvas bags may need two coats.
-For the water bottle, taping down the stencil is best.  Even thought the stencil is adhesive it helps to keep it in place even more.
-Blot on the paint using the stencil brushes.  Be sure to not put too much paint on your brush or it will bleed under the stencil.
-Let dry!  For the water bottle it may be best to do a clear top coat of mod podge or something similar to seal it in and make sure it doesn’t peal off.
-Voila!  You are done and your kids are styling for school and all the sports and activities!
